The most confusing set of words I bumped into recently are: consentual and consensual

In other to avoid embarrassing situations, it is good to resolve the confusion and know the right spellings, meanings and usages of these kinds of confusing words.

I bumped into the word ‘consensual’ recently and actually thought it was a misspelling of the word ‘consentual’. But I was wrong.


Both words are actually correct and mean the same thing. When I looked up these words on Google Search, here is one of the results I got for each word from the search result page entries:


adj. involving or carried out by mutual consent: a consentual divorce


adj. existing or made by mutual consent without an act of writing
