THE NEWSGHOST, NIGERIA – One of the challenges that bloggers and online news contributors face is finding fresh content for their readers consistently.
First of all, without this kind of content, attracting and retaining readers is always difficult. People never want to get stuck on old and stale content.
Then finding fresh content itself is not so easy. Where do you look? How do you identify it when you find it?
In this post, I highlight a few tips to help any blogger and online news contributor find fresh content for their blog or website.
Fresh content is timely content that is useful to your readers, and here are five (5) ways you can find them:
#1 – Look at problems
The problems your readers and audience face is a great source of fresh content. Find out what their pains are and spin off a piece of content that discusses those pains or proffer solutions to them. Right now, a good example of this is this post.
#2 – Look at trends
A lot of websites and social media platforms provide data on trending topics. This data offers you direction on what your readers or audience are interested in at a certain period of time. The data is usually compiled based on search volumes and number of shares.
For example, you can access trending topics on Twitter and Instagram using the search function and hashtags.
#3 – Follow industry content
Following industry content through industry publications and ecosystems like magazines, journals and forums is another good way to abreast of the latest happenings in the niche you blog or report about. If you are looking for advertising industry content, for example, you can get regular issues of the Adweek magazine or join a LinkedIn group that discusses the advertising trade.
#4 – Talk to industry experts
You can also connect directly with industry experts on social media and ask about their latest findings on a particular subject within their area of expertise. Or find their email address and reach out to them. A lot of industry experts are willing to share what they know with others and would even love it more if they get to be mentioned on your blog or website for it.
#5 – Use tools
There are tools that can help you sniff out fresh content as well. By sorting through a vast pool of information on the internet, these tools can help you find fresh topics and content to blog or report about. Examples of such tools are Ahrefs, AnswerThePublic, Google Trends, Buzzsumo, SEMrush, Exploding Topics, Ubersuggest, Spyfu and Social Animal. They work in different ways and use different approaches to help you figure out the fresh content you need.
