Gunmen abduct travellers in Ondo

THE NEWSGHOST, NIGERIA – According to report, gunmen snatched a vehicle and abducted the passengers in Oba Akoko, in Akoko South-West Local Government Area (LGA) of Ondo.

This happened on Friday, September 15, 2017. The passengers were travelling from Lagos to Abuja in a Toyota Highlander, report says.

About a week ago, a couple were kidnapped in Akunnu, in Akoko North-East part of the state.

Ondo State Police Command said it has rescued three of the latest kidnap victims on Saturday and was able to free two others who were abducted last week.

Mr. Femi Joseph, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the command, said the police took immediate action as soon as they got information about the activities of the kidnappers.

He said:

‘We were able to rescue Moses Yakubu and Mark Shaibu, who were kidnapped while going for a wedding last week.

‘We also rescued three female, who were kidnapped last Friday on their way to Abuja. Efforts are ongoing to rescue the remaining victims. We are gradually closing in on the kidnappers. We are going to get them very soon.’
