Lagos: Motorcyclists protest extortion by union members

THE NEWSGHOST, NIGERIA – On Tuesday, October 29, 2019, riders of the ORide motorcycle taxi in Lagos protested against extortion by road transport workers’ union.

The riders staged their protest at the office of OPay, the parent company of the motorcycle taxi company ORide, at Agidingbi area of Ikeja, report says.

While speaking to journalists, Ridwan Olalere, the senior director of operations, said:

‘We have been talking with the Ministry of Transportation and also the road transport workers’ union.

‘These conversations are taking some time as we continue to engage with each other. The ultimate goal for us is to reach an agreement that will see every party content with the outcome. We are working very hard to ensure the rider experience is free of any hassle.’
