THE NEWSGHOST, NIGERIA – On September 3, 2017, DPRK News Service, @DPRK_News, a Twitter parody account posing as a North Korean news service, posted a tweet warning Nigerians to stop mocking the Supreme Leader of North Korea Kim Jung-Un.
The tweet by the parody account reads:
‘Impudent peoples of Nigeria are warned against mockery of Supreme Leader Kim Jung-Un, lest they pay a heavy price.’
But these are not the only respectable news outlets that have been fooled by this parody North Korean news service, according to past report.
The New York Times had been fooled by this parody account too this year with a tweet on July 4 that reads:
‘Imbecilic Americans drunkenly fire missiles into East Sea of Korea, demonstrating near total ignorance of ballistic science.’
Other respectable international news outlets like Newsweek, The Washington Post, Reuters, HuffPost, The Verge and Buzzfeed have all been embarrassed by the parody account.
According to report, the parody account is operated by two anonymous authors who are members of the legal blog Popehat.com.
