THE NEWSGHOST, NIGERIA –
The presidential committee established to investigate the corruption allegations laid against the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Babachir Lawal and Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) Ayo Oke officially commenced sitting on Thursday, April 20, 2017.
According to report, President Muhammadu Buhari has given the panel a 14-day deadline complete its mission.
The panel says it will conduct the investigation in camera. This was disclosed in a statement by the spokesman of the vice president which stated specifically about the investagation that, ‘All its proceedings will, however, be in closed sessions to avoid speculations, allow for full disclosure and enhance the pace of proceedings.’
The statement highlighted the panel’s promise that it will conduct its work with utmost diligence and without fear or favour.
Along with Vice President Osinbajo, the three-member panel includes: Attorney-General and Justice Minister, Abubakar Malami and National Security Adviser, Maj.Gen. Babagana Munguno (retd).
